Make a Fist to Release Baggage

Make a fist. Squeeze it tighter. Tight enought to make your knuckles turn white. Squeeze it even harder.

Then let go.

Do you feel that? That when you're forcing your hand into a fist, like you're hanging onto something, and then you let go... initially as the blood is flowing through your hand, it hurts.

As I've been on my personal development journey, I took yoga classes. The instructor would say, "Let go that which no longer serves you."

I was confused. I thought, "What? What are you talking about?"

As I continued my personal development journey (and my yoga practice), I realized how many things I had been holding onto.

Just like squeezing your fist, you can feel the pain that it causes you.

What about those pieces of baggage you've been hangin onto for weeks, months, years, or even decades?

If you start releasing your grasp on some of that baggage, just like you experienced when the blood flowed back into your hand, it may cause pain in your life.

This pain may happen. Letting go may not be simple if you've been hanging on for a long time.

I'm not here to judge you and say you never should have been hanging onto that baggage in the first place.

Maybe it was a choice you made. Maybe it was a choice you didn't make. Something happened to you in your life and you weren't aware that you were clinging onto that piece of your past.

Regardless of the reasons, I invite you to let go to that which no longer serves you. Be aware that letting go will come at a cost.

The longer the duration that you've been hanging onto it, the more likely you'll feel pain. I hope that, with your awareness, it won't scare you into picking up that baggage and carrying it again.

It's time to let go of that which does not serve you.
